Life at Tibet boundary town

Zhangmu is a boundary city at Chinese-Nepal Border, very close to Kathmandu, investment of Nepal. Every day, a large number of visitors and investors are coming into and making south west China's Tibet through this boundary city for their Tibet tour. Lifestyle at the Tibet boundary city published by local people, tourists and investors is not active as big places, but exciting.  

Zhangmu has performed an important part in governmental, financial and social transactions between the two nations since it was designed.

The citizens in Zhangmu mostly take up boundary business, visiting through the Nepal-China boundary link, also known as the Relationship Bridge to purchase products with unique Nepalese features in Nepal and re-sell them in Zhangmu.
The residents have experienced a relatively well-off life over the past 10 years through transfer and trade business.


This cover boundary experienced a 1.6 thousand income from transfer and trade business this year, such as 1.5 thousand made by boundary citizens, mentioned from a Xinhua review.

Most visitors visiting from Lhasa to Kathmandu or Kathmandu to Lhasa would stay at least a night at Zhangmu. Travel and leisure also plays a part in the financial system of this boundary city.
