Tibet Tourism Develops Rapidly



Tibet Tourism industry develops rapidly in the first half of 2012. It is reported that Tibet Autonomous Region has received more than 2.81 million tourists both at home and abroad in the first half of 2012. The total tourism revenue breaks up 2.4 billion RMB and that increases 30.3 percent compared to the last year.

Tibet Tourism Bureau determined to take “Happy Tibet 2012” as the advertising theme of Tibet tourism 2012 in the consideration of the special tourism resources on Tibet Plateau. Tibet introduced a series of tourism products for tourists both at home and abroad, such as the “wedding at the holy place” and “happy Tibet special train”. These tourism products attracted a large number of tourists and provided more convenience for tourists planning a Tibet tour. The rapid development of Tibet tourism has greatly promoted the Tibet economy development.
Other Cities in China Provide Practical Support for the Development of Tibet Tourism

The National Tourism Bureau decided to provide support and assistance to Tibet guide team since 2002. To provide practical support for the development of Tibet tourism, various cities in parts of China sent their excellent guides to Tibet resent years. 570 excellent guides from various regions of China entered into Tibet since 2003.

The National Tourism will keep providing assistance to Tibet tourism industry and send more guides to Tibet, especially in the peak season of Tibet tour. To meet the demand of tourists from all around the world, more guides majored in lesser-known languages (such as German, French and Spanish) would be sent to Tibet. Besides, the relevant departments will also send professional experts to provide special training course to improve the quality of the local guides in Tibet.

Beijing Municipal Tourism Administrative Board cultivated 22 tourism managerial staffs and 185 tourism business managerial staff for Tibet tourism industry in the past 11 years. Zhejiang Province Tourism Bureau appointed 19 guides to Tibet since 2003. Jiangsu Province Tourism Bureau also sent 34 guides to Tibet in the past years.
